~BIO~

From the spotlights of arena rock into the digital frontier, emerges Soulbound. Converging elements of rock, alternative, progressive, classic, heavy metal and pop music, Soulbound produces a powerful sound and unique style that is dynamic and timeless. With insightful lyrics, profound concepts are transformed into memorable phrases; compelling in song, spoken, or read. With tastefully theatrical live performances, Soulbound captivates the audience while taking them on a musical journey through the heart and mind into the soul.

It could be stated that the members met each other in August 2007, and began performing under the name Soulbound in January 2008. But the origins of the band date back much further. After years of playing the Houston scene, drummer Mike Lundy (LXIX, Killer Instinct, Earth Church) enrolled, and graduated with Top Honors, in both the Multimedia and Web Design programs at The Art Institute of Houston. Determined to enter the music business again as a media designer, he began developing a national graphic / web design company. In 2004, Mike met guitarist Sean Sawyer, who became a consultant and collaborated with Mike to make one of Houston's premier custom graphic and web design companies. During this period, Mike and Sean also spent time playing music together. And after sharpening their skills over 2 years, they started looking for other compatible musicians in the area. For months it seemed futile, as dozens of less dedicated artists crossed their path. But suddenly, in August of 2007, they met bassist Cory Scott (Beyond Ruin, Mooney Monday, Ronin) and singer Camden Bertrand (Pirate Radio, Cold Fusion). Immediately there was a connection; and by September, the four began routinely practicing together. Cory, like Sean, was a first chair band trumpeter through his high school years. Cory's intricate fingering below Sean's impeccable note placement driven by Mike's thundering beats produced a sound with amazing potential. And as soon as Camden let out his first wail for the group, it was undeniable - the band was born! Camden's years of experience in theater, dance and singing, mixed with his charismatic personality, make him a dynamic performer and front man. After months of rehearsals under the name SoniCore, in January 2008, the band collectively decided that Soulbound was a more appropriate and marketable title for the project.

After weeks of correspondence, Sean Sawyer convinced renowned musician / engineer / producer Gregg Gill to come see Soulbound perform in April 2008. Impressed, Gregg immediately offered Soulbound recording time. With Gill's mixing and mastering expertise, Soulbound recorded their first 3-song demo (Hideaway, Ever After, The Wait) over 21 hours in 3 days. Although the time was limited, the end result equaled or exceeded the quality of most demo recordings. Once again encouraged, Soulbound set their sights on dominating the local scene; and someday, a worldwide audience. The response from those who have seen them perform, and those exposed to Soulbound via the Internet, continues to be strong and supportive. Though the individual influences of each member are diverse, they continue to brew their chemistry of renaissance personalities and tastes into a spectrum of compositions - rich in content, yet simple enough to be remembered by the listeners.

As a band, Soulbound is new and young. Nonetheless, their ability to take direction, their dedication to making Soulbound a world class project, and their exceptional music make them not only a pleasure to know and work with, but also a pleasure to see and hear.
